B

:
eg. 2 to the fifth = 2 times 2 times 2 times 2 times 2

The above example is a multiplication problem where 2 is multiplied by itself 5 times. Just like repeated addition becomes multiplication, there is a mathematical operation, called exponentiation, that represents repeated multiplication. We can write the expression above as

The number 2 is called the base.

Keyword(s):

D

:
The distance = rate * time (d=rt) equation relates distance, rate and time.
Keyword(s):

E

:
An Equation is a mathematical sentence with an equals sign to indicate that two expressions are equal.

:

The number 5 which represents the number of times the base is multiplied by itself is called the exponent.

Keyword(s):
:

Aa mathematical statement that may use numbers, variables, or both.

Eg. 3x - 5 + 2y

Keyword(s):

L

:
A Linear Equation in 2 variables, is any equation that can be written in the form y = mx + b. m is called the slope and b is the y-intercept.
Keyword(s):

S

:
Slope of a Linear Equation is defined as the rise of the line over the run of the line. Given any two points on the line the slope can be calcluated by

Y

:
The vertical axis of a coordinate system
